It has been brought to our attention several times since we took over Zen Zero that many people have felt judged when they come into our restaurant, worried that because they might not be raw or even vegan that we will look down on them in shame and lecture them in the ways of the raw lifestyle. We would like to say, officially, for the record, that that is not true. We personally feel really great knowing that everything we serve in our restaurant is healthy and vegan but what you eat on your own time is up to you. I think Jinjee from The Garden Diet said it best so I am going to quote her now:
I was just in The Farmer and The Cook, our local farm store and very green cafe, wondering if people were going to judge me for forgetting my canvas grocery bag. I was on the other side of the consciousness fence, and it made me wonder if people may think that because we are raw vegans we are judging everything they eat, and judging them for what they eat. But, no! This journey is about ourselves and our own health. I believe most of us raw vegans realize that everyone’s journey is unique and if anything we feel almost self-conscious ourselves about our diets. So let’s just enjoy our own paths with no fear. It is not that big of a deal what we eat! You may argue that it really is a big deal on a grand scale ecologically, but the road to good health, diet, spirituality and success – the road of life however you see it – is such a personal, complex, and varied journey that, in my humble opinion, it is not for us judge our fellow travelers.
So there you go, life’s too short to spend it judging our fellow peeps. If you need information on the raw lifestyle, on wheatgrass , on raising vegan children or any other number of topics we would be happy to help you out in the best way we can, but we’re not going to lecture you on anything. And if you’ve never tried a piece of Kyla’s raw vegan chocolate pie or you just want to come in and have a smoothie and try some delicious vegan soups or salads, then come on in, we won’t bite (very hard)!
Peace.

Absolutely no judgement – I’m a true omnivour and can honestly say that going into Zen Zero is a real treat. I find the smoothies delicious and something different than the usual mocha’s that I tend to enjoy. The staff are more than willing to accomodate me (only 1/2 the giner please!) and the fact that I’m doing something healthy for me is just an extra benefit.
Try something different – expand your horizons (and give your taste buds a treat)!
